The History of Braxted Park

The history of Braxted Park dates back to the early 14th century when the land was owned by the De Brakelond family. The estate remained in their family’s ownership for over 400 years until it was acquired by the Boulton family in the early 18th century.

The Boulton family commissioned the construction of the current mansion, which was designed by renowned architect James Gibbs. The mansion was completed in 1754 and has remained in the family’s ownership ever since.

Over the years, Braxted Park has played host to some of the most significant events in the country’s history. During World War II, the mansion was used as a base for the British Red Cross and the Women’s Voluntary Service. The estate’s extensive grounds were also used to grow vegetables for nearby hospitals and military institutions.

Today, Braxted Park is a sought-after location for couples who are looking for a unique and historical venue to tie the knot. The mansion’s impressive architecture, manicured lawns, and stunning views make it a beautiful wedding venue and the perfect backdrop for any wedding.

Planning your Braxted Park Wedding

One of the great things about planning your Braxted Park wedding is that the planners are really helpful and knowledgeable.  I have always found it a great venue to work at and confident in the team to make sure your day is perfect!

There are also so many fantastic options to choose from when putting your plans in place!  With a capacity of 350 guests, Braxted Park is one of the larger wedding venues that can cater for a big wedding party.

All Saints Church is onsite and an ideal place for couples who want a traditional church wedding. The church features stunning stained-glass windows and can seat up to 120 guests.

Braxted Park offers civil ceremony options with two licensed indoor rooms and the possibility of an outdoor ceremony.  The Orangery can accommodate up to 140 guests, while the Pavilion can accommodate up to 200 guests.
