14TH AUGUST 2020

Once you’re engaged one of the first things you will investigate is looking for a wedding venue. One fantastic option in Norfolk is Southwood Hall. So why get married at Southwood Hall? Check out my 5 top reasons to get married at this exceptional venue.
Southwood Hall is a Grade II thatched Coronation Barn set in the heart of rural Norfolk. Just 15 minutes from the city of Norwich this exclusive events venue feels like it’s miles away from anyone. It is, without doubt, one of my favourite places to do my job as a wedding videographer in Norfolk.

1. Accommodation on Site
A big selling point for any wedding venue. Once the celebrations are over do you and your closest family and friends really want to travel somewhere to stay afterwards? Southwood Hall has the ability to host up to twenty-two guests in accommodation on site.
The Cartshed Lodge is a stunning location for your preparations in the morning. With a partially glazed roof, the light floods through and is a dream to film. Complete with two bedrooms both with en-suites and a large living area. That’s not to mention the spa facilities so if you’re looking for a chilled start to your wedding day. I have filmed many brides having their hair and make-up perfected in the Cartshed Lodge.
Southwood House is another option on your wedding morning. With the ability to sleep twelve adults and two children, it is ideal for allowing your family to stay on site.
The final option with accommodation is The Garden Folly. With its own secret garden, this is a beautiful spot for two.

2. Flexibility For Your Wedding Ceremony
Next on my list of 5 reasons to get married at Southwood Hall is the number of options it has for your wedding ceremony. If having an outdoor wedding ceremony is for you then Southwood Hall has some beautiful options.
The Rotunda on the terrace is fully licensed for weddings. Set on the terrace it allows your guests to enjoy the open-air during your ceremony. When Lauren and Adam had their wedding in 2018 when the rain came all their guests joined them under the rotunda, it was so intimate.
With Southwood Hall, the barn itself is a stunning backdrop to your wedding ceremony. With big glass windows giving plenty of light. The listed building is perfect for a rustic themed wedding. It is really special to see your partners face as you walk in through the glass door and up the aisle.
If a woodland glade is your idea of the perfect location for a wedding. The woodland wedding area next to the Cartshed Lodge could be for you. Or you could get married in the walled gardens. Both these options are fantastic for a duo ceremony where you head back inside to sign the legal documents.
Whatever way you are looking to get married, inside or out, Southwood Hall has options for you.

3. Location, Location, Location
As I mentioned above, Southwood Hall is nestled in the gorgeous Norfolk countryside. Complete with the famous Southwood cows, you really do get that rural feel before you even enter the car park. When you arrive you are met with waves of beautiful lavender plants. Mature trees and fields surround the wedding venue.
If you are staying at the Hall you can follow some of the footpaths around the venue to enjoy the fresh air. Ruined Southwood Church is also just a short walk away.
After the legal parts are over, the grassy area out the back of the hall is perfect for mingling with those who mean the most to you. This overlooks fields that often have cows which is always a great talking point for your guests.

4. The Food
The food is definitely another reason to choose Southwood Hall as your wedding venue. Whatever style day you are planning, your food should be without doubt an area to take real care.
Popular with couples is the option to surprise guests. Being able to choose someone to carve the meat for their table always brings lots of laughter.
For your evening food, there is the outside wood-fired pizza oven. I remember when I saw Helen and Matthew at a Southwood Hall showcase a few years ago. They told me they had everything planned but they wanted to have another look at the pizzas.
The barbecue lodge is a great option too. It sits on the terrace and is the perfect place to enjoy some bangers.

5. The Service
Southwood Hall prides themselves on their customer service and looking after their couples. The wedding planners are on hand to help you with all your plans. A family-owned and run venue you do really get the feeling that they are there for you.
The team at Southwood are always there for you on and your guests on your wedding day. You can always rely on them to make sure everyone is looked after. Your wedding day will run like a dream.

In Conclusion
Whatever you are looking for from your venue on your wedding day. You will not be disappointed if you take a walk around the grounds of Southwood Hall.
